Charis is pronounced CARE-ECE.
It's Greek for Grace. For the past 22 years I have been loving, training and exhibiting our own and others IGs. I started making collars for my own dogs, since I couldn't find any fancy and original collars that didn't cost an arm and a leg. About 15 years ago I decided to start selling them to other IG lovers and I was and still am determined to make them affordable for others too. Since then I have expanded to all breeds of dogs and have added rhinestones and other types of stones.
I rarely breed and do not sell puppies as a business. If you are interested in adding a dog to your family, please research to find the right breed for you. IGs life span average 15 years! Italian Greyhounds can take a long time to house train and need a LOT of attention, so be AWARE. Most Italian Greyhounds are perfectly healthy till the age of 2, 3 or 5 years old. Then can come down with a number of health problems. PLEASE buy from a responsible breeder who does health testing on the sire and dam and doesn't breed them before 2 years old for the dam and 3 years old for the male. Hopefully this breeder will also know the health history of past generations too. Don't expect to go buy a puppy off the shelf. They aren't merchandise.
I am a member of The Italian Greyhound Club of America (IGCA) and have served as Corresponding Secretary and 1st Vice President for almost 10 years. The IGCA is the parent club to the AKC. Please visit their web site at http://www.italiangreyhound.org/ to find lots of helpful information.
Please don't buy puppies from Internet breeders, pet stores, or anyone that always has 2 or more litters on the ground ALL the time. Ask for health testing results on the Dam and the Sire .These health tests include and are not limited to thyroid testing, CERF (eye disease) certificate, and OFA Patella (knees)certificate.
