Martingale Collars

A Martingale collar is one of the only safe collars made for walking Italian Greyhounds and other small breeds. Martingales are better than a harness because of the ease of slipping the collar on and won’t detract from your dog’s beauty. It is designed to tighten when your dog pulls on the lead, preventing him or her from escaping the collar, but will not choke. The back of the collar has two chrome plated metal “D” rings that are joined by a narrow section of nylon (1/2”). A plastic slide allows for you to tighten the collar after slipping it over your dogs head for a secure fit. This “narrow nylon” is better then a wider type nylon because it’s still strong, but lighter and more flexible so it will not interfere with your dog. When your dog pulls on the lead or even if she or he is suddenly frightened and pulls back this collar can NOT slip off. A small, chrome plated metal “D” ring allows for a snap on lead attachment. I prefer metal rings since they give a more elegant and lighter look to the collar. PLEASE NOTE that this collar is not for everyday wear and should ONLY be used when walking your dog. Collar Description: The Nylon backing can be either one inch or one inch and one half or 2 inches wide and is very durable. It will last for many years. The decorative trim is securely double stitched on top of the nylon. Gold or silver bells give this collar my unique signature of elegance and beauty. Neck Measuring: It is important that you measure your dogs neck so that the Martingale will function correctly. Please measure the upper neck below the ears where it tends to be smaller on Italian Greyhounds. All "Bell" style collars are $19.00 for sizes up to 11 inches plus shipping. 4 and 6 foot leads match the nylon on the "D" rings and are $10.00 each. They have a loop on the end to slip your hand through. They're light weight, but strong. I have a bunch of personal leads including leather and the ones I use the most are these nylon ones!
